Paul Kalkbrenner - Essential Mix - 30-07-2011

As of 2010, Paul Kalkbrenner has tallied up more than 15 years of experience as a producer and live act. The early 90s after the Berlin Wall fell were formative years for Paul, and after spending many long and sleepless nights on the dancefloors of E-Werk, Planet and Whale, the dream was born to make music himself. A job as TV editor got him through the mid-90s and financed his first music gear. By this point Paul had already decided that he did not want to be a typical DJ playing other people's records, but rather to play only his own music, live in a club setting. His first tracks as Paul Kalkbrenner were released in 1999 on Berlin-based BPitch Control (the newly founded label from Ellen Allien) as the Friedrichshain EP, titled after his home district in the city's east. A series of further singles and two full-lengths (Superimpose and Time) followed, plus continuous live performances.

Dinky Live @ Panoramabar, Berlin

Alejandra Iglesias was born in Santiago, Chile. Thanks to her mother’s influence, Dinky grew up playing the piano and listening to a lot of music. Since an early age she has studied several art forms and for many years trained as a professional dancer and choreographer. She danced in Peter Gabriel’s concerts when she was only sixteen and always felt comfortable on stage. As a teenager, Dinky grew up listening to bands like Cocteau Twins, Depeche Mode, Prince and The Cramps as well as classical and contemporary composers like Brian Eno and Eric Satie. In the mid nineties she was introduced to electronic music, thanks to her sister who was living in Berlin. Artists like Plastikman , Aphex Twin and Carl Craig where the first ones to fill her record collection.

Reset Robot @ High Tide Halloween 2011

Dyed Soundorom Live @ Summer Set 2011, Romexpo Parking, Bucharest - 09-09-2011

Dyed Soundorom had an unusual entrée into dance music. The owner of infamous Paris nightspot Les Bain Douches spotted something in the hyper, perma-smiling party kid and approached him with a request: “he wanted me to put on a party with an underground sound,” says Dyed with a grin. And that is what he has been doing ever since – as a promoter, DJ and especially as a gifted producer. Dyed is as adept at juggling beats as he was dribbling basketballs, and he approaches every club with the verve and energy of an athlete rushing into competition.

Marco Carola, Live at Yalta Club,Bulgaria (12.11.2011)

Marco Carola is the recognized global ambassador of Italian techno. It's a position he treats with the utmost care and respect—and one that stands him among the hallowed company of contemporary techno's leading practitioners. Hailing from Napoli in the south of the country, Marco was among a small group of DJs and promoters who quite literally built the city's scene from scratch back in the early-'90s. In 1995's First Planet EP he became the first Neopolitan artist to commit techno to vinyl, paving the way for an entire generation of producers. These days Marco is a mainstay of Richie Hawtin's Minus and Plus 8 labels, who, much like Marco himself, are one of the driving forces behind techno's permeation of the worldwide dance scene.

DeWalta Live, 5years Vakant 23-11-2011

DeWalta is set to launch his new EP, Hide And Seek, in the intimate surroundings of Berghain's Kantine on November 12th.

The event is one of the regular Killekill parties held in the space, and will feature a live set from DeWalta himself. If you like your minimal house music to be trippy and melodic, then you'll more than likely lap up his swinging grooves.

The Kalk Pets label has been responsible for some of the most weird and wonderful techno coming out over the last few years, and since they're releasing the EP, label boss Strobocop will also get to strut his stuff behind the decks. The final piece in the party's puzzle is Chilean ex-pat Chica Paula, who is half of Chica And The Folder with Max Loderbauer. Together they're sure to put on a great night in the cosy 200-capacity Kantine, which might make a nice change if you're used to partying in the cavernous Berghain.

Andrey Pushkarev, Nightclubber Podcast 2011

Andrey Pushkarëv is hailing from Russia's beautiful and inspiring city of Izhevsk, the central part of country, which probably is one of the reasons why he drops such fresh and unusial beats. Born in on the 2 st of March in 1981, he started to play music when fourteen, acting as a dj at school radio. That time Izhevsk was one of the main cities in Russian electronic scene. It gave Andrew possibility to initiate into it at a very early age: his first gig was in club at 1996, at the age of fifteen. Since then than music and a life are inseparable.

Dixon - Beats In Space Radio - 13-09-2011

WHEN DIXON ENTERED THE BERLIN CLUB CIRCUIT IN THE EARLY 90’S, HE ESTABLISHED HIS NAME ON THE STRENGTH OF DJING. BACK THEN, CONFIDENCE OR EXPERIENCE BASED ON PUTTING OUT MIXES IN THE INTERNET DID NOT MATTER AS MUCH AS IT DOES NOW. YOU HAD TO DO YOUR PRACTICE, OF COURSE, BUT WHEN YOUR THING WAS GOOD AND TIGHT ENOUGH TO TAKE IT TO THE CLUBS, THERE WERE OPPORTUNITIES TO DO SO. BUT THOSE OPPORTUNITIES MEANT RESPONSIBILITIES. A RESIDENCY DID NOT MEAN PLAYING THE SAME CLUB EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, IT MEANT PLAYING THE SAME CLUB EVERY WEEK. THE CROWD DID NOT CONSIST OF PEOPLE THAT WANDER IN AND OUT OF CLUB NIGHTS AND ITS GUEST DJS AS THE WEEKLY HYPE COMMANDED THEM, IT CONSISTED OF PEOPLE WHICH HEADED STRAIGHT TO A CERTAIN CLUB NIGHT BECAUSE THEY WERE SURE ITS RESIDENT DJ WOULD DELIVER THE GOODS THIS WEEK AS HE DID LAST WEEK, AND THE NEXT WEEKS TO COME. AS LONG AS THAT HAPPENED, THERE WAS NO NEED TO MOVE ON. YOU MADE YOUR DECISION TO RETURN OUT OF GOOD EXPERIENCE AND YOU STUCK TO IT AS LONG AS IT LASTED.

EsKmO Radio Mix NINJA TUNE **15 tracks***

ESKMO BandPage by Eskmo

Brendan Angelides is a San Francisco based electronic music producer who records and performs live as Eskmo. His multi-genre compositions have been featured on influential labels like Warp Records and Planet Mu (most recently having been signed to the mighty Ninja Tune). While Angelides’ tracks encompass a wide range of electronic styles, he avoids classifications. Bleep.com described his tracks as “Masterfully produced… sophisticated, post-Dilla hip-hop funk“. His recently released full length album on Ninja Tune has been praised as:

“Eskmo has created his own sound.” – Future Sequence

“Electrifyingly enveloping…Sufficient mind-melting invention here…to render Eskmo a hotter property than that chilly moniker might immediately imply.” – BBC Music

“Telling a story…futuristic…a feel of musique concrete…It’s a unique vision and fascinating example of the intersection of organic and electronic.” Fact Mag

“Elegantly melodic, beautiful electronics and enough skewed rhythmatics to make this release a brilliant opening full-length release.” - Bleep

In the past five years he’s released over a dozen singles and EPs while touring throughout North America and Europe. He’s also remixed works by diverse artists such as Bibio, Spor, STS9, Amon Tobin and Bar9, to name a few. Angelides also runs the Ancestor label, which issued his “Hypercolor” and “Angus Dei” singles in 2009 to positive reviews from numerous magazines, blogs and tastemakers. Ninja Tune recording artist and film composer Amon Tobin hailed his work as “some of the best production I’ve heard in recent times.”

Thomas Schumacher Plattenleger 11-13-2011

Thomas was an early fan of the Neue Deutsche Welle (German Punk and New Wave) artists like D.A.F, Andreas Dorau and Palais Schaumburg and synth-pop innovators like Depeche Mode and New Order; however it was the first time he heard a DJ beat-mix the then-new sounds of acid house in his hometown of Bremen, Germany, in 1987 that he immediately knew that he wanted to be a become a part of dance music culture. With this decision made, Thomas began buying 12” records and set about putting together a studio in his tiny bedroom, starting with an Atari computer which still has an honorary place in his studio in Berlin today.

Early 90s techno from Detroit, Belgium and Germany, and the soulful deep grooves of US House were the sounds that Thomas related to the most.
A school trip to London cemented Thomas’ love for electronic music, particularly a visit to the legendary Blackmarket Records store in Soho, where he quickly spent his entire allowance on techno and drum & bass white labels.

Dasha Redkina , Nightclubber Podcast 2011

For Dasha it has been an adventurous musical journey beginning with a teenage stompaphunk obsession in Brighton [UK], then going through seasons in Ibiza exposed to new musical discoveries, leading on traveling through Europe's best electronic events to listen, learn and find record shops to begin collecting the big black discs.
Based in London to complete university and working at a local record shop helped build her collection and refine her musical taste. However the party scene of London has never been so appealing to her and its not until her recent return to her homeland Russia that she has found grounds to express herself best. A regular at the ARMA club of Moscow and selectively performing at key musical events such as Sunwaves Festival, Berlin's 'club der visionaire' and Wilde Renate, Kazantip fest and Ibiza underground.

Terje Bakke , Nightclubber Podcast 2011

Terje, has at the mere age of 17, gained fame rapidly in the progressive scene for his music and DJ skills. It all started August 1987 in Bergen, Norway. He grew up with interest in Electronic Dance Music. It all started out with commercial dance music and constantly evolved from there. In age of 13 he fanatically started to produce music. He got his hands on the beloved Fruity Loops sequencer. Early in 2003 he found the sound of Trance. His influence was Armin Van Buuren and his show A State of Trance. This inspired him to become a DJ himself. Late summer 2003 he got himself a pair of Pioneer Cdj-100s and a cheap mixer from a friend. His life as DJ was officially started. He spent interminable hours in front of his decks, practicing.

Elektronic Force Podcast 048 with Marco Bailey by Marco Bailey

Format B Sceen Fm Special Mix 09-11-2011

Jakob is a Berliner, from Kreuzberg to be exact. As all good parents do, his wanted him to play an instrument. After years of successfully dodging music lessons and his parents wishes, he finally at the subtle age of 15 decided that he desperately needed a bass guitar, which then through diligent practice manoeuvred him from hardcore bands to funk and jazz bands. But suddenly, there was a small problem: he liked Techno parties much better than rock concerts.

So, as one does, he began buying the odd techno maxi here and there until one day little Jakob thought to himself: Why heck, I can do that too!

So off he went and bought himself an overpriced Atari St40 and a cheap synthesizer, only to realize that oops those guys from Detroit really do know what theyre doing and that it wasnt that easy after all. Well, that is basically where Jacobs ambitiously planned out life suddenly took a screeching of the wheels turn in another direction.

Franziskus is from Erfurt, a small and rural part of Germanys quite rough and wild East, which didnt stop him from starting piano lessons at the innocent age of 6. His musical interests took him from the usual suspects like Michael Jackson and The Pet Shop Boys through to Hardcore (obviously not on the piano). But then one day, or night to be exact similar to Jakob, all was to suddenly change.. A fortuitous night out at the legendary E-Werk in 1993, made this young mans heartbeat skip from Chopin over to a 4/4 beat where it was to remain, probably forever.

Alan Fitzpatrick Pullproxy Radio Show 09-11-2011-Mixing

Having enjoyed a rapid ascent from new kid on the block to a highly respected and in-demand producer, the last half of 2009 saw Alan go from strength to strength with critical acclaim for his productions and demand for his DJ'ing coming from all corners of the globe. Having just released his debut album on Adam Beyers Drumcode label, Alan became the first act to record and album on Drumcode since 2005, this highly anticipated long-player marks the culmination of a run of hot productions that led to him being publically name-checked as one of the most exciting producers in techno by Adam Beyer, Dubfire and Carl Cox and being awarded a BBC Radio 1 Essential new tune for his anthemic reflections single on Bedrock. Indeed, such has been Alans dominance of the techno scene in the last 12 months that at one point in September 2009 Alan had an amazing 8 tracks in Beatports Techno top 100 chart.
